Airplane-Mode Checkup
Does this app work offline, or does it lie? Tap a few boxes → get a 3–10 minute test with receipts.
What this does
When the internet dies, does the app? Pick an app + scenario and this builds a 3–10 minute offline test with clear pass/fail and the receipts to back it up.
Why it matters
“Works offline” often means “works if the stars align.” Background calls, hidden prefetch, and cached illusions all cheat. This makes the app prove it—no vibes.
How to run it
- Pick your app, OS, and what you’re trying to do (view/search/create/send).
- Choose strictness: Gentle (quick skim), Standard (normal user), Hostile Room (kills warm caches + background data).
- Hit Get the plan and follow the steps. Screenshot anything the app claims while the airplane icon is showing.
Pass / Fail
- Pass: Actions work from local cache or refuse loudly; nothing “magically” fetches.
- Fail: New data loads quietly in airplane mode, or the app pretends to succeed.
Tip: After reconnect, confirm queued actions resolve and timestamp it.
What to capture
Airplane-mode icon, the attempt, any offline warnings, and the “sent later” moment. One screenshot beats three adjectives.
Good for
Flights, dead zones, disaster prep, product evals, and killing “offline” theater before it bites you in a demo.
